My Garden!

So, last season was a bust, but my Winter garden is turning out to be quite the little harvest!

There are 2 cabbages and 1 broccoli at the far end, yellow onions in the middle and I use their end sprouts as green onions, the near left is cilantro, and the near right are snow peas.

Not too shabby!!

The cilantro is the only thing I've actually harvested so far and it's awesome! I've gotten about 4 peas from my snow peas...so a stir-fry with 4 peas may be a little lackluster. We'll see how they go since I've got a ton of pretty little white flowers ready to turn into pea pods.

Heaven in my mouth

OH MY GOSH

I finally worked up the courage to feed my husband two things and not care what he said about it:

Chicken
Curry

This recipe is AMAZING:  http://chaosinthekitchen.com/2009/07/lime-and-coconut-chicken/

It's called Lime Coconut Chicken, but it's really more like Coconut Curry Chicken and it made me SO happy inside.  Like....SOOO happy.

You need to make this.  It's sweet and spicy and I don't even know how to explain how it tastes. Just please make it and make yourself as happy as I am right now.

please excuse the pride

So hang in with me for a few paragraphs while I roll in my own glory....hahaha

As you can tell from my prior post I was anxiously anticipating the end of my breastfeeding experience.  (which by the way I realized boiled down to my irrational fear of not having a constant source of available nourishment) Anyway....

There are blogs and posts and forums and websites and experts dedicated to helping moms wean their children.  Tonight, I put my sweet baby in bed after her bath NO nursing and she fell asleep as soundly and quietly as ever.

Here is where the pride comes in...haha...I think I did myself a huge favor by following the eat, play, sleep routine and only nursing her before sleeping when it was time for bed. I usually rocked her with her pacifier to lay her down (and I also realize how lucky I am she took a pacifier).

Who knows if it will work for the rest of my sweet peas, but in the meantime, I am SO excited it went so well, especially because I was SO prepared for it to go so badly.

the end. sorry. i know this was awkward.  :)

Working Around It

I REALLY want to see this movie but with a new little munchkin (and her intense eating schedule) it is a little difficult.  So I bought myself the book!

The last time a read a real fiction book, not a spiritual/self-help/school/work/baby book, was probably over 3 years ago...I know I know...that is a terrible thing to admit.

I just wrapped up Mothering With Spiritual Power which I would highly recommend to all mothers, LDS or not.  So...here we go....I'm getting my fiction hat on!!

Which color plastics do we order for the dirtbike??

Don't worry...we haven't bought our baby a dirtbike..........(yet)

BUT if we did that little munchkin would be getting:

PINK PLASTICS!!

That's right, ya'll, we're having a girl!  I was seriously in shock since I was so set on the fact that we were going to have a boy.
Now that I've settled into it though, I am incredibly excited!  Now maybe I'll have someone to go to musicals with me so I don't have to drag the poor husband :)

Easy Amazingness

super lame that one of my only posts this month is going to be about food.......

So, I was working from home taking care of my sick dog (who decided to get pancreantitis....long story).  I noticed I had some pasta sauce and ground beef leftovers in the fridge and some broken lasagna noodles that weren't enough for real lasagna........an amazing thing was born!!

I mixed up the sauce, ground beef, and threw in some frozen spinach to make myself feel good

Boiled the noodles to al dente

Grated some sharp cheddar cheese

Layered all that goodness in up in a bowl

Seriously....I could eat this everyday.  You should try it....seriously.

Sewtime Showtime

Yee-Haw!!! My first big girl sewing machine!

You'd think with the sewing I've done up to this point I would have a nice little machine....well I didn't. So, this is the debut of my most recent purchase!

She looks so beautiful and valley-girl'ish, but trust me...I've done some research, and this is a hard core thread pumping machine!

Once this pretty little girl shows up at my door I will have a whole new adventure in front of me.

Trust me, you'll hear all about it!
