Crib Bedding Here We Come

So, I've decided to be slightly ambitious and make my own crib bedding since I couldn't find anything I was in love with for less than $300...yikes!

I love the little tike, but I know she's just going to pee and puke all over her pretty little bed sheets, so I'm not willing to cough up that much

I wanted something feminine but not girly, something graphic, but not too bold, something colorful, but not too childish.

Here are my plans:

Triple Pleated Crib Skirt: Paisley with vertical stripe contrast band on the bottom
Crib Sheet: I'm actually cutting up an old sheet we had on our bed that matches the yellow/tan color in the fabric perfectly
Bumper w/ Ivory Satin Bows: Paisley exterior and yellow minky fabric interior with vertical stripe piping on the top and bottom

I think it will turn out all right....but picturing it in my head and seeing it in real life will be interesting.

Wish me luck!

He would NEVER eat this

My phone thinks it has a good camera...it lies...
My husband likes his man food....you can't blame the guy.  Pizza, cheesburgers, steak, ribs...it's all delicious

BUT

every now and then I decide it's time to go through the effort to make a seperate meal for myself, something girly, light, with...heaven forbid...vegetables...eeek!

My friend Pam & I have done a few co-op grocery baskets lately through Bountiful Baskets, and so I desperately needed to use some asparagus and tomatoes.  I do NOT enjoy raw tomatoes...I'll eat them....but I don't salivate over the little fruit, so I needed a way to work them in and enjoy them.

Thus was born.......

Lemon Spaghetti w/ Shrimp, Asparagus, & Tomatoes

It was light and delicious and vegetabaly and girly.  Perfect.
(Shout out to my girl Giada De Laurentis for the inspiration)

4 Girls Sitting in the Grass

I got to go to my cousin Sasha's wedding this weekend in Yuma....lucky for me I have some awesome family in Yuma too!!

These girls are the girls I grew up with, loved, threw dirt at, ate thanksgiving on a tailgate with, and they have turned into some of my really great friends.

I feel SO lucky to be close to my cousins.  A few are missing, but if we all got together it would be like we were all 5 again.  I LOVE them!!

This is me being productive at work

So, this is a super rare opportunity for you folks.

Not because I am ashamed of how my body looks, but because I think it's weird to splash it around on the internet.

ALAS....

In an effort to share with people I don't get to see and purely for the sake of documentation when I print this out....here is what the two of us look like at 6 months!

Yes, that is my desk, at work, at 4pm, when I didn't feel like doing anything else. Maybe you can actually thank my brain shutting down for this rare opportunity.....

Reality Begins to Set In

I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that I'm going to have a little girl running around this house pretty soon and trying to figure out what that all means for our family.

You'd think 10 months would be plenty of time to wrap your head around it, but I have a feeling I just won't be able to until she actually shows up.

We hope she's a sweet, kind hearted soul, but with the two of us as her parents, I'm sure she'll have a hint of rowdy....and I think we're okay with that :)

There are SO many people who have poured generosity on us and we are grateful for the support of our family and friends.  6 months down....it'll go quick!

Which color plastics do we order for the dirtbike??

Don't worry...we haven't bought our baby a dirtbike..........(yet)

BUT if we did that little munchkin would be getting:

PINK PLASTICS!!

That's right, ya'll, we're having a girl!  I was seriously in shock since I was so set on the fact that we were going to have a boy.
Now that I've settled into it though, I am incredibly excited!  Now maybe I'll have someone to go to musicals with me so I don't have to drag the poor husband :)

Easy Amazingness

super lame that one of my only posts this month is going to be about food.......

So, I was working from home taking care of my sick dog (who decided to get pancreantitis....long story).  I noticed I had some pasta sauce and ground beef leftovers in the fridge and some broken lasagna noodles that weren't enough for real lasagna........an amazing thing was born!!

I mixed up the sauce, ground beef, and threw in some frozen spinach to make myself feel good

Boiled the noodles to al dente

Grated some sharp cheddar cheese

Layered all that goodness in up in a bowl

Seriously....I could eat this everyday.  You should try it....seriously.

Here's the Rundown

Alright folks...this is the worst blog famine I have created in a long time.

Sorry!!!

1. Work (good excuse right?!)
2. Tyler's school (lame excuse...don't judge)
3. Got nothin' else you'll likely except :)

Life is good to us, we've gotten a lot of good family time in, went to an awesome ward Christmas brunch, finished this dumb semester, gone to the sand dunes.....we're happy, but obviously nothing crazy is happening....hehe

I'll post before Christmas you have my word (and if you're lucky you'll get some pictures!)
